If you can't summarize your idea in a single sentence, you probably don't understand it well enough to teach it.
Could you explain your point to a stranger on the back of a napkin? In 10 seconds? Without jargon?
If the answer is no, the idea needs more cooking.
Here's how to run the test:
Write your post or page.
Step away for 10 minutes.
Come back and try to summarize the whole thing in one sentence.
If you can't, you've either got multiple ideas fighting each other or one fuzzy idea that needs sharpening.
Clarity is kindness to your reader. They're busy. They're distracted. They'll give you a few seconds to make your point.
Fuzzy thinking produces fuzzy content. Fuzzy content gets scrolled past.
Get crisp or get ignored.
P.S. Reply with your one-sentence summary of your core message and I'll tell you if it passes The Napkin Test.
